Cardi B Thinks JAY-Z Has the ‘Power’ to Get Colin Kaepernick Back in the NFL

Almost everyone has been weighing in on JAY-Z’s partnership with the NFL, but few hold as much weight with the culture than Cardi B. So when TMZ caught up with her, the Bronx native too the opportunity to weigh in on the situation.

“I think that he can make a change,” Cardi said around the interview’s 1:30 mark. “I don’t think he went [in] on an NFL deal without an agreement…I feel like he went in there like, ‘Alright, if y’all want me to work with y’all, y’all need to bring my peoples in there.'”

JAY-Z made a polarizing move when it was announced that his Roc Nation imprint had struck a deal with the NFL to be the league’s new live music entertainment strategist. Because he was a vocal supporter of Colin Kaepernick, many people felt the partnership was hypocritical, as Kaep is still out of the league. Adding to the scrutiny, shortly after the deal was announced, it was rumored that JAY-z would become the part-owner of an unnamed NFL team. But Cardi is optimistic about Kaepernick’s future now that Hov might be part of a front office.

“I feel like JAY-Z could bring back Colin Kaepernick,” Cardi said. “I feel so. I feel like he has that power…I feel like JAY-Z could do it.”

In addition to the NFL and JAY-Z, Cardi also spoke about her vocal support of Sen. Bernie Sanders. Recently, the two sat down for an interview where they discussed Sanders’ plans for social reform. Although she’s passionate about political issues, she told TMZ that being a talk show host/reporter will not become another one of her ventures.

“I’m into politics, but I rather leave that to somebody that’s really into it…I’m focused on so many things,” Cardi said before stating that she’s open to performing for Bernie Sanders at the Democratic National Convention and the White House if he wins the election.
